Be able to type anywhere in a blank page. This was a common feature in old editors. Be able to click anywhere in the page and have the cursor there. In modern editors the cursor does not go where you click. It moves to the end of the line. In some old editors when clicking in any place in the page the cursor goes to that place and you can type there. When using the arrows to navigate the cursor moves up, down, right and left. That is not the case in modern editors. If I press the down key here, the cursor goes to the beginning of the next line. Microsoft Word tries very poorly to do that: double clicking on an empty spot inserts the necessary blank spaces, places the cursor there and you can type. But if you don't type anything the invisible blank spaces stay there. The old fashion approach was very simple. The scope of editing is the line. When the cursor moves to a new line the necessary blank spaces are generated to let the cursor appear in that spot. When abandoning a line, non significant blank spaces to the right are eliminated. Only a couple lines of code in the program. Another old feature, was being able to select rectangular blocks of text for cutting and pasting. Most programs have that feature, including MS Word. Hold the Alt key while clicking and dragging. This editor does to have that feature. Sincerely, Jesus Martin jmartin2000@gmail.com
